			In any new Concept site the first step in promoting a Site is to get the site listed on to the main search engines:


	Using as an example: Our involvement with the Psinetics Development Program

On receipt of the brief designating the name Psinetics we executed a search on the main search engines for instances of the term Psinetics

The search returned about eight instances of the word Psinetics over two pages if repeat instances were taken into account.

This result stayed fairly constant over the months leading up to the start of going live with the Psinetics site.

After the first month of marketing and site submissions the search results showed 87 instances of the word Psinetics.

Assuming the first eight instances were prior to the site going live then approximately 80 instances of the word Psinetics were directly from our Marketing.

At the end of the First month we were listed in Google, AOL and Lycos search engines - No paid search engine insertion submissions were used. At this point we targeted the Yahoo search engine for a placement in its directory.

At the end of the the second month the search returned over 879 results - 870 of which directly pointed to the book and our site.

Half way through the third month (to Date) The search result showed over 2100 instances of the word Psinetics and we were placed in the Yahoo directory - again no paid search engine insertion submissions were used.

Conclusions to date

In less than three months of a new concept site being released to t he public we have increased the awareness of the concept of Psinetics from 8 instances to over 2100 instances and are listed with all of the major search engines without using paid submissions.

The next target is to move our placement on the organic searches to the top position on the engines by using a link exchange system. This is beginning now..

Additional:

Just before starting the Link Project, Google are allowing you to place your adverts on specific sites. This means you can have a paid link on a high volume, product relevant site. This is a very good idea and one which we have already implemented.
